For nearly two decades, Natasha Uppal worked at the crossroads of gender equity and early childhood development, asking what truly helps children and families thrive. Then she became a mother, and the final piece fell into place. Discovering matrescence, the profound transformation a woman undergoes as she becomes a mother, set her on a mission to make it understood, supported, and celebrated.
She is the Founder of Matrescence India and India's first Mama Rising® Matrescence Coach guiding mothers through every dimension of postpartum life, from emotional well-being and identity to relationships, physical recovery, and purpose. Through Matrescence India, she is building a continuum of care across homes, healthcare, and workplaces, alongside a digital 24/7 maternal care platform offering continuous, expert-led support between clinical visits.
Previously, Natasha has led programmes at the World Bank, the LEGO Foundation, and state and national governments, shaping large-scale early childhood reform across India and piloting integrated models of maternal and child wellbeing.
She holds a Master's in Education, Gender, and International Development from UCL, awarded on the Chevening Scholarship, and was selected as a Global Talent at the UNLEASH Social Innovation Lab in Denmark. She is an alumna of the Atlas Corps and StartingBloc Fellowships in the US.
She brings three lenses to this work: sociologist, mother, and social impact practitioner, united by the belief that maternal and child wellbeing are mutually reinforcing and essential to a thriving society.
